New Blog, Who Dis?

New blog, who dis?

In my almost 10 years of blogging, this will be the third, maybe fourth, blog I’ve started. Or rather, rebranded.

Why the start/stop? Well, I started blogging in what I like to call the Golden Age of blogging back in 2007/2008. During this time, blogs were more about expression and connecting with other like-minded individuals. They really were just for fun. As a fashion-obsessed college sophomore with a passion for writing and photography, it was a natural fit for me.

But as time went on, blogging started to become more of an industry. I started to feel pressure to be a certain type of blogger. As things continued to change, I felt like I didn’t fit the mold of what a blogger should be. Soon enough, I lost the fire I once had for my little passion project and I stepped back from blogging. Not once, but twice.

And I regretted it. Every time I stepped away, I missed it almost immediately. I missed the process and having an outlet/space that was all my own to share my voice and perspective with others. More than that, I really missed having this unique record of the past that blogging seems to capture so perfectly. I truly think that is the main reason why I decided to start up again.

Things have changed, but now more than ever, I feel the importance and uniqueness of my voice. That it’s worth sharing and expressing. That I owe it to myself to keep this passion project going.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

So what’s in a name/this blog about…

Well, not too long ago I was working a soul-sucking 9-to-5 job in the Fashion industry where the greatest joy I would get in the work day was setting my out-of-office before taking some much needed PTO to get away. In 2016, I took a life-changing trip to Europe, and had an epiphany while exploring the southern coast of Italy: I was over my job and I was over working in an office.

So I quit my job, regained my sanity, and a few months later in 2017, became a flight attendant.

Never in a million years did I think this would be the career for me (honestly, I thought I would one day be Anna Wintour’s successor.) I love fashion, but travel has always been the thing that fuels me, so I couldn’t ask for a better fit. I absolutely love my job.

Currently Out of the Office is about travel, life as a flight attendant and all the things I love from beauty and style, to fitness and food. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

To all my friends that encouraged me to pursue this passion once more, especially Amanda, thank you. You lot will forever remain the real MVPs of my life.
