Recent Beauty Buys I'm Loving

In the last few months, I have been in the midst of a major downsizing. Call it a quest for minimalism, but the reality? I was just in possession of way too much s***, especially when it came to beauty and skincare products.  As a result, I have been making a conscious effort to either use up the products I have or give them away.

Another reason for my downsizing is the fact that I’ve pared down my beauty routine considerably. I don’t bake and beat like I used to (current every day makeup routine can be done in 7 to 10 minutes) and I have really embraced the less-is-more approach. What I have been focusing more on is skincare, which with all the flying I’ve been doing, my skin is extremely grateful for. Here are some of the products I have been loving lately and can’t stop raving about.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Hands down, this is my favorite, holy grail, desert island item. Back when I first started flying, I went to Kiehl’s and had a specialist recommend a few items for my skin. Since I was dealing with dryness, she recommended this concentrate for nighttime. It took me almost a year to start using the sample she gave me, but I finally did and it is actually life changing. It not just moisturizes my skin, but it makes it so incredibly soft by the morning. I’ve also noticed that it has kept my breakouts at bay and that my acne scars have faded significantly since I started using it. My skin has truly never looked better since using this product.

Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner

I first tried out this toner as a 100 point perk at Sephora before I finally caved and bought the full size. This toner is it when it comes to mattifying. It controls oil from breaking through on my t-zone when I wear makeup, and keeps it looking fresher for longer. I also like the water formula and how cooling and refreshing it is on the skin. Lastly, I am extremely grateful that out of all of the Sunday Riley products, this one is the least offensive when it comes to smell. (If you are familiar with SR, then you know exactly what I am talking about.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned

The Velvet Matte pencils are my go to lip pencils for work/life. They are perfectly matte without being overly drying and the color payoff is unmatched. I have been wearing Cruella for work alot, but to say I am over red lips for work would be an understatement. I tried a nude lip, but it felt just a little bit too plain for me. Then I saw Damned. The Sephora website has it listed as magenta, but on me it’s more of a dark berry. It’s become my perfect red alternative and it looks great with the uniform!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Bronzer

THIS. BRONZER. RIGHT. HERE.

I am still speechless at how perfect this bronzer is. The pigmentation and color are perfect, and the application is easy. (No muddiness at all!) Best of all, it does not oxidize/turn orange after a few hours of wear. It is truly the answer to my prayers for a matte bronzer to enhance (or fake) that summer glow.

Megababe Thigh Rescue

I have been following Megababe/ Katie Sturino for awhile now so I have seen her and countless others rave about the miracle product that is Thigh Rescue for chafing. I typically wore these Jockey shorts under my dresses, but would still experience that uncomfortable rubbing. Back in May on a Vegas layover, I was wearing a dress and no shorts in 100 degree weather. It was pure agony. Right there in front of the Venetian, I took out my phone, went to the Megababe site and ordered Thigh Rescue. I tried it out for the fist time the other day (in Vegas, what are the odds) and all I can say is yes. This stuff glides on, feels like nothing and makes all of the difference. Could not recommend it more.
